About the Artist
Thank you for showing an interest in my paintings. I am finally at a point in my life where I live and breathe my art. I get so excited when I purchase art supplies that you might hear me laughing out loud!
I have always been considered an “artist” by my family and friends; I can’t remember a time that I wasn’t involved in art. I was the kid in elementary school that everyone came to when they needed help on an art project. As the years progressed I formalized my passion by taking training in several mediums. Early on I had the opportunity to teach introductory ceramic courses as an advanced student in community collage. In 2001 I earned my Master In Teaching Art at K-12 levels. During my studies I taught several youth programs including making Native American Button Blankets for a community auction in Olympia WA where my students raised over $600 for the Nisqually Tribe. I have also been fortunate to find ways to make some money along the way by operating my own sign painting company, designing business logos, drawing portraits, creating murals, doing silk screens and even painting holiday windows for businesses. One of my most rewarding experiences was my volunteer work at the Seattle Art Museum. For three years I held mini- art workshops for students in the Seattle School District.
These paintings represent my growth as an artist and simply my raw passion to create. I have been able to express myself in these paintings in a way that I have never been able to before. The series began when I created a painting for the man I love; I was able to find a freedom with the brush that I was never in touch with before. Thereafter my paintings were inspired by colors and patterns that I noticed while undergoing acupuncture treatments which put me in touch with emotions buried deep within me. Combined with my urban experiences of spending most of my life in Seattle and now living Portland, you might also notice my inspiration of the cityscapes. Thus, this series of my most recent paintings is titled INDUSTIRAL ACUPUNCTURE. This is the first time in my life that I feel my passion and emotion is really present in my work. I truly love creating them; I hope you enjoy them too.
